RING A BELL FOR ROSIE: The second Ring the Bell for Rosie event hosted by Our Town, Inc. will be Saturday at the Atrium at the Seneca Mall at noon. All the public is invited. A light box lunch will be served with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, fruit and dessert or bring your own. Music, dancing , professional story telling and a recognition ceremony will occur. If any female in your family worked on construction or were given pay for other essential jobs during WWII, they may be eligible for recognition. You may dress in Rosie attire. CONCEALED CARRY/BASIC PISTOL COURSE: will be Saturday at the Coalton VFW, 3436 Coalton-Pumpkintown Road, Coalton. CAKEWALK AND AUCTION: will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Dailey Fire Hall to raise funds for medical and travel expenses for Travis Beverage, who suffers from congestive heart failure.

USED BOOK SALE: The Friends of the Elkins-Randolph County Public Library are hosting a used book sale 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday. The location is the old library on Davis Avenue. Any donations collected will be used to pay for the construction of the new library.

CLOTHING GIVE AWAY: God’s Closet will be giving away quality children’s clothing on Sunday from 2 p.m to 4 p.m. at the Highland Adventist School and the Elkins Seventh-day Adventist Church located just down the road from North School at 777 Kennedy Street in Elkins. There is a $1 per family admission fee for all the clothing and bedding that can fit into a shopping bag. There will be many newborn and teen sizes available for boys and girls. ELKINS PURPLE MAJESTY RED HAT GROUP: will meet on Monday at 11:30 a.m. at Fat Olives Restaurant, located at 210 Pennsylvania Avenue in Parsons. New queens will be crowned for the coming year. EMMA SCOTT GARDEN CLUB: will meet Monday at St. Brendan’s Church Parish Hall at 7 p.m. Sarah Wamsley, Midland School fourth-grade teacher, will present a program on Bee Keeping. Please note change in meeting location.

ALLEGHENY REGIONAL FAMILY HISTORY SOCIETY: will meet 7 p.m. Tuesday in the library of the IOOF building on the Beverly Five-lane. Those interested in genealogy are encouraged to attend and become a member of ARFHS. Any questions call 304-636-1650 or 304-636-8528.

DEMOCRATIC EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE: The Randolph County Democratic Executive Committee and Randolph County Democratic Women will meet on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Kump Education Center. HOMESTEAD COMMUNITY CENTER MEETING: is scheduled for Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the dining hall at the Homestead Community and Event Center in Dailey. BUCKWHEAT AND PANCAKE BREAKFAST: Randolph Lodge IOOF will host a sourdough breakfast at the Lodge Hall on the Beverly Five-Lane on Saturday, Sept. 17, from 7 a.m. until noon. The all-you-can eat menu will include sourdough buckwheat cakes, regular pancakes, biscuits and gravy, sausage, eggs, milk, coffee or orange juice. For more information, call 304-636-2562.

CHURCH WOMEN UNITED IN WEST VIRGINIA: are gathering at Buckhannon Seventh Day Adventist Church on 1122 Brushy Fork Road on Thursday, Sept. 29, beginning 12:30p.m. until 4 p.m. for the 2022 CWU State Assembly. Special guests are Jeffrey Allen of West Virginia Council of Churches, Rev. Rich Cardot, and Amber Blankenship of Prisoners’ Backpack Program. FOREST FESTIVAL GRAND FEATURE PARADE SEATS: are available at Otterbein United Methodist Church at 1100 South Davis Avenue in Elkins. The seats go on sale Tuesday, Sept. 6. VENDOR SPOTS: Vendor areas will be available for the Live and Drive 2022 Summer Concert Series sponsored by Our Town, Inc and Mountain State Street Machines on Thursday nights from 6-8 p.m. Reserved spots will be available to crafters, business owners and restaurants. PICKIN’ IN THE PARK: Pickin’ in the Park will be Wednesdays at the Elkins City Park. There will be two jam sessions beginning with a country music session at 4 p.m. at the small pavilion. The second session will be an old-time jam and will be at 7 p.m. at the Sycamore Street Pavilion. Pickin’ in the Park is sponsored by the Augusta Heritage Center and Elkins Parks and Recreation. BLOOD SCREENING: The Elkins Kiwanis is sponsoring their Health Awareness Blood Screening. It will take place on Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Randolph County Senior Center from 7-10 a.m. The basic multiphasic test is available for $45 which includes a lipid panel, CBC, CMP and several other tests.
